The Belgium Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, famously nicknamed "The Green Arch," was a stunning example of sustainable, biophilic architecture designed by Vincent Callebaut Architectures. Located in the Mobility District, the 4,824 m2 structure was shaped by a massive double-curved vault constructed from Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT), which provided the largest shaded and naturally ventilated agora on the site. True to its name, the multi-story "green ark" featured over 2,500 plants, shrubs, and trees on its balconies and rooftop, serving as a dynamic, breathable façade that helped naturally cool the building.
